When Becky Luck and her son Derek began building their 1969 Camaro SS, among Becky’s requirements was to maintain the car’s classic style and Big-Block power.
That led them to the Chevrolet Performance 502 HO crate engine.*
“We get a lot of people that come up to us and are like, ‘I love seeing the old-school Big-Block motor in this car,’” Derek Luck told us earlier this year.
The 502 cubic-inch engine is rated at 461 horsepower and 558 lb.-ft. of torque. It is built on a cast-iron block with four-bolt main caps and has all forged internals for durability to match the power.
The Lucks also dressed up their engine with an air cleaner featuring the famous Chevrolet bowtie and valve covers that read “502.”
We told the fascinating story of the mother-and-son project back in the spring after meeting the Lucks at Goodguys Raleigh. Now, we’ve made the attractive 502 HO crate engine into a wallpaper download for all your screens.
